Edlio Central High School is celebrating a historic victory as its all-girls robotics team emerged as the champions of the TCEA State Robotics Championship. The team, composed of Terrie McAden, Faith Martin, and Riona Edmonds, showcased their exceptional engineering and programming skills using LEGO robotics, ultimately winning in a dramatic come-from-behind match.
The TCEA (Texas Computer Education Association) Robotics Championship is one of the most prestigious competitions in the state, challenging students to design, build, and program robots to complete complex tasks. The Edlio Central trio faced fierce competition from some of the best teams in Texas, but their resilience and strategic problem-solving led them to victory.
The championship match saw the team initially fall behind in points, but through quick thinking and seamless teamwork, they executed a flawless final round, securing their place at the top. Their victory marks a significant milestone for the school and highlights the growing presence of young women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields.
Mr. Bostic, the team’s robotics coach, expressed immense pride in their accomplishment: “These young women have demonstrated incredible perseverance, creativity, and technical expertise. Their win is not just a testament to their hard work but also an inspiration for future generations of female engineers and programmers. I couldn’t be prouder.”
The achievement of McAden, Martin, and Edmonds has brought immense pride to Edlio Central High School. Their success is a reminder of the importance of encouraging young women to pursue STEM careers and of the boundless potential that comes with passion and dedication.
Congratulations to the Edlio Central High School all-girls robotics team on their historic championship win!
