Student Chromebook Policy

Edlio Central High School Chromebook Device Policy


1. Device Responsibility:

  • Each student is responsible for the care and security of their assigned Chromebook.
  • Report any damage or malfunction promptly to the school's IT department.

2. General Use:

  • Chromebooks are intended for educational purposes only.
  • Use the device in a manner that promotes a positive and focused learning environment.

3. Internet Usage:

  • Access the internet only for educational purposes.
  • Do not attempt to bypass web filters or engage in inappropriate online activities.

4. Software and Applications:

  • Install only school-approved software and applications.
  • Do not attempt to download, install, or run unauthorized programs.

5. Data and File Management:

  • Save and store files in the provided Google Drive or designated school cloud storage.
  • Do not store personal or non-educational files on the device.

6. Security:

  • Do not share your account credentials with others.
  • Log out of your account when not using the Chromebook.

7. Charging:

  • Charge the Chromebook at home to ensure it is ready for use in the classroom.
  • Do not remove or tamper with the device's charging cable.

8. Reporting Issues:

  • Report any technical issues, loss, or theft of the Chromebook to the school's IT department immediately.

9. Privacy and Respect:

  • Respect the privacy of others when using the Chromebook in shared spaces.
  • Do not attempt to access or modify another user's account or files.

10. Compliance:

  • Failure to comply with this device policy may result in disciplinary action and/or the loss of Chromebook privileges.

11. Repairs and Replacements:

  • Repairs and replacements due to accidental damage may be subject to a fee. Deliberate damage will result in additional consequences.

12. Updates:

  • Ensure that the Chromebook's operating system and applications are kept up to date.

13. Remote Monitoring:

  • The school reserves the right to monitor Chromebook usage for security and educational purposes.

By using the Chromebook, students agree to adhere to this policy. Violations may result in disciplinary actions, including but not limited to loss of Chromebook privileges, detention, or other appropriate consequences.
